Donating Complex
Assets

We are able to manage donations of any type of

complex asset. This allows donors to maximize

their tax benefits while also providing more

flexibility to support the causes they care about.

We are able to manage donations of any type of complex asset. This allows donors to maximize their tax benefits while also providing more

flexibility to support the causes they care about.

How It Works

01

Donate

Ownership of all or a portion of the

asset is transferred to UI through a

Gift Agreement.

02

Sale

When the donated asset is sold, the

pro rata portion of the sale proceeds

go to the Charitable Fund (typically

a DAF).

03

Grant

The donor can then recommend grants

that are sent from the charitable fund

to support causes they care about.

What is a DAF?

A Donor-Advised Fund (DAF) is a giving account that is one of the most popular philanthropic vehicles because it is easy to manage and cost efficient.

What is a Fiscal Sponsorship?

A Fiscal Sponsorship is a formal arrangement in which a 501(c)(3) public charity enables an organization that may lack exempt status to seek tax-deductible donations under the sponsor's exempt status.

General Field of Interest Funds

A General Field of Interest Fund is a foundation with a specific focus, allowing donors a way to direct funds, managed by industry experts, toward an issue that matters to them.
