UI Charitable Partners with C.H.A.N.G.E System to Support Youth in Idaho

UI Charitable is proud to announce our Fiscal Sponsorship of C.H.A.N.G.E System, a transformative project dedicated to cultivating a culture of teen mentorship in Cascade, Idaho.

About C.H.A.N.G.E System

C.H.A.N.G.E System’s mission is to develop a culture of teen mentorship in Cascade. Their vision is to create fun, safe spaces for Cascade teens to hang out while being mentored into adults who will, in turn, mentor the next generation.

A major focus of Change System’s work is the C.H.A.N.G.E Cafe, launched in February 2025. The cafe was created to employ students and serve as a vibrant community hub where teens can gather, build relationships, and find a sense of belonging. It provides real-world job experience and a supportive environment - helping young people develop life and leadership skills beyond the classroom.

This initiative is supported by three key components:

  • The Board: Oversight is provided by Horizons' Lifestyle and Education Team, which supervises the C.H.A.N.G.E System Committee. This committee works closely with the Teen Advisory Board, ensuring a thoughtful blend of vision, mentorship, and youth leadership.

  • Three Phases: The long-term plan includes developing facilities and programming centered around recreation, tutoring, mentoring, communication skills, and job training - eventually including features like a bowling alley. Each phase builds upon the last to provide a comprehensive support system for youth.

  • Endless Potential: By offering a safe and engaging space for teens, C.H.A.N.G.E System aims to positively impact the lives of young people in Cascade and cultivate a stronger, more connected community through mentorship and opportunity.

Fiscal Sponsorship by UI Charitable

Fiscal Sponsorship is a formal arrangement in which a 501(c)(3) public charity, such as UI Charitable, sponsors a project that may lack exempt status. This partnership enables the project to receive tax-deductible donations, providing critical support for fundraising and operations. For emerging initiatives like C.H.A.N.G.E System, Fiscal Sponsorship offers several advantages:

  • Access to Tax-Deductible Donations: With the support of UI Charitable, C.H.A.N.G.E System can receive contributions from individuals, foundations, and corporations, and thereby broaden its base of philanthropic support.

  • Eligibility for Grants: Many funders require 501(c)(3) status. Fiscal Sponsorship unlocks grant opportunities that might otherwise be inaccessible.

  • Credibility and Trust: Partnering with a reputable Fiscal Sponsor provides added legitimacy and assurance for donors and stakeholders.

  • Administrative Support and Compliance: UI Charitable provides compliance management, expense oversight, and donor reporting - ensuring donations are used responsibly and effectively.

Looking Ahead

Through this partnership, UI Charitable Advisors and the C.H.A.N.G.E System aim to make a lasting impact on the youth of Cascade. By combining community-driven innovation with operational support, we can help more teens discover purpose, develop resilience, and become mentors themselves.
